IN THE CAGE WITH YOUR EYE ~ 2 ~ Stella's Story
A Fantasy Place:
About 15° south of the equator in the Pacific Ocean on an island in May.
2 pm. Light rains the day before.
The sunlight spun web casts countries' beauty in a song.
A clean dry baby island coos. Bugs hiding in wait.
This sky has a color I've seen in your eyes.
Cumulus clouds dust off the horizon
Reveal the turquoise-water-blue reefs and the blind shallow cobalt mystery.
Closer into shore we inhale the calm west-side air; view a north-south beach
All the sand is transparent white floating within golden mean of fine grains.
A table flat shore has been cleared by the wash.
Coconut palms have curved hips bumping into the sand.
Travel trunks wide seats and swinging arms give shade
50 paces west into the water: A dwarf island.
An inpenetrable caged verdant thickset. I take your arm and guide you to there
Wading under a first shrub and stepping up onto thick skirt of debris
stooping more..stepping wide..and standing up together in this living enclosure
The center area is about 25 feet in diameter, these are woody shrubs which have
Died and left..moving outward where the greenest are full and blooming
White creamy redolent blossoms..filling the calm air with angel's breath perfumes
Virgin sand is almost too soft...We sink into it slowly.
A bird..a small white thing...chirps twice and then is gone
We are alone in this cage of green ~ The hours pass.
My body rests lying off to the side of you...at an angle
my head on your stomach. In rolling over..my face is to yours
I move my fingers toward your face... mapping the textures
..brushing them across your forehead...my eyes closed
Then
I look up and see your eyes are closed
Stretching over you I kiss your eyelid so softly that your body
lets out a sigh
I touch your eyelid again but this time with my finger tips
Feeling the silk of your skin, I know that roundness underneath sees inside me
Again, I bridge the space between us and lightly kiss your skin
You reach out quickly and pull me closer
